BigAutoFruit consists of a mobile pre-cold module, powered by solar energy, capable of taking the fruit to 4–10 °C in the shortest time possible after harvest, allowing for an increase in fruit quality throughout the operational process.
To date, the first pilot has been conducted at the Gorbea crops in Chile, effectively decreasing temperature inside the module.
For this T2021 season, we expect to continue with the analysis and design a model that allows to support the operation in our own fields and third-party fields at an industrial scale, appropriate for Hortfruit’s size, and create at the same time a new business model that will allow to offer this service to other companies in the sector.
